Multimedia Art/
Course Description:
This class is a full year course that is designed to further explore the art of 2D electronic imaging. Students will develop technical knowledge and production capabilities using computer and digital cameras. Industry standard programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Page Maker will be used to develop the skills necessary in multimedia graphic design. Photography students as well as computer students are welcome.
What to expect:
This class aims to bring what you learned in previous computer art classes to the next level. We will spend more time discussing “tricks of the trade”, as well as looking at and discussing “good” vs. “bad” design. Projects will be assigned which will allow you more freedom than previously encountered in multimedia classes. Expanding your creative and critical thought process as well as giving you the means to better program use and knowledge will be one of the main goals of this course. There will be a heavy emphasis on use of original imagery and photography throughout the class as well as participation in weekly class critiques. Digital cameras are recommended but not required. Video will also be explored.

Studio/Advanced Multimedia First Assignment 8/21/14
Assignment:Create a digital work using the program of your choice
Requirements:It must be done by Thursday August 28th. No exceptions. This is for critique purposes and so we can move onto a new project within a week.
Theme: Normal and Abnormal
Overall process: You can think about this theme in any way you want. If you want to create two separate works to represent each idea you may, or you can combine them into one project. Either way this must be done by the assigned date. You may use any program (Photoshop, Illustrator, Painter, Final Cut, Sculptris, Motion, etc…) and create any type of work (design, video, 3D sculpture, animation). There is no right or wrong answer, think of this as a quiz for your first project and a measuring stick to compare to for the future.
Critique: This project will be discussed as a class after completion (on or around Friday August 29th)
